Blue hair, Green hair, Red hair
So... this is under my thrifting blog site because I used something old and used it for a new cause. I saw a post on Pinterest about using pastel chalks to color your hair different fun colors. I have never touched the color of my hair but thought, hey why not? If I wash my hair the color will come out. I researched it a little and it turned out awesome! Yesterday I used red and blue. The basic steps are as follows:
1. Wet the portion of your hair that you want to chalk.
2. Rub a piece of chalk down your hair from top to bottom until you have the desired amount of color. ( I did the top and back of each strand so that it would show really clearly.)
3. Take a hot curling iron and run it down your hair and curl for about 5 seconds to let the color dry on your hair and set in. (If color comes off on your curling iron don't worry, I just wiped it off when it cooled down.)
4. Enjoy! You now have colorful hair that will come out next time you wash!
As a side note, the chalk did dry my hair out and I couldn't brush through the colored strands once I ran the curling iron down it. Wasn't really a problem, just had to make sure it was right the first time. I did redo a few strands by just getting them wet and starting over.
So... when I read the post I remembered when my mom bought me a pastel chalk set when I was in 6th grade... yes I still have them. They are pictured below. I think I first used them after we did a pastel section in art class and I drew hundreds of lighthouses and colored them with my pastels. Anyhow bottom line is. Pastels were free, I had a curling iron, hair and the water so this fun project was free and adventurous! Have fun!
P.S. Blue, dark green and red work really well in darker hair.
